Just so you know I'm not some kind of unmarried marriage guidance counsellor who doesn't know how it feels to be overweight and unhealthy I'd like to tell you a little about me.
I was the fat kid at school, I remember my aunt taking the mickey about my spare tyre.
Whenever school sports day arrived I'd forget my kit so I'd been a bit podgy all my life.
At the age of 27 I decided to quit smoking and that led to serious weight gain, I got up to nineteen stones at my heaviest when one night as I sat in the pub watching match of the day a very pretty young lady said "get out of the way you fat b*****d I cant see the telly past your belly"
In retrospect I should thank her for that though at that time I was feeling very low
I made the decision to make a change and joined a gym and by going 5 nights a week for 18 months I got down to 14stones, spending every evening in the gym though wasn't doing much for my social life and I was too tired to go out afterwards anyway.
I cut back to going 3 times a week as most people seem to recommend but when I did the weight crept back on and by spring 2003 I was back up to 16 stones with a 38" waist.
Then in 2003 I found Herbalife and with the help and support of my coach I learned that though exercise is an extremely important part of being healthy it's not the only factor involved, what I teach now at my classes is how to eat well, exercise properly and make the small changes needed to get the same results I now enjoy.
Since 2003 my weight has been 14 stones, the first time in my life I've ever been at my ideal weight for so long.
Oh and in a complete turnaround I recently competed as part of a team in the Cheshire Triathlon and was 9th fastest in the competition for the 5K run and am doing a bike ride from Manchester to Blackpool in September in aid of Barnardo's
Not bad for the fat kid who hated sports day
Now I teach and coach at these classes because I don't want anyone else to have to feel how I felt that night in the pub
